We are planning a knit along so we can work together.

Rauma Shawl

This project is a beautiful two color shawl with a hood. This is knit in the round and then steeked to turn it into a shawl. It is a large project for intermediate to advanced knitters. We are planning a knit along so you will be able to work at your own pace but have the advantage of working with other knitters on the same project.

Materials needed: pattern, yarn, needles, stitch markers (note: all materials bought at the Blue Heron Knittery for this class are 10% off!)

Class dates: July 15 @ 10 a.m., August 19 @ 1 p.m., September 16 @ 1 p.m., October 7 @ 10 a.m., November 4 @ 10 a.m., December 2 @ 10 a.m., December 30 @ 10 a.m.

Cable Scarf

This cable scarf is an easy to knit scarf with large yarn and large needles. This is a great first project if you are ready to venture into making cables.

Materials needed: 1 skein worsted/bulky yarn (150 yards), needles sized for yarn, cable needle, markers.

(note: all materials bought at the Blue Heron Knittery for this class are 10% off!)

Class cost: $10 per class to the instructor, Bev Bakkum

Linen Stitch Scarf

This gorgeous stitch looks complicated but actually is easy to do. You slip stitches and knit stitches and create a woven look. This scarf is not thick and can be made to the width you desire! It is knit the long way so there aren’t too many rows. You may also use a wide variety of yarn and colors to make this. In the picture silky wool is used and there are 5 colors. You will need at least two colors to achieve this stitch. Skill level is intermediate.

Materials needed: fingering yarn 2-7 colors, 32”-40” needles sized for yarn.

(note: all materials bought at the Blue Heron Knittery for this class are 10% off!)Pattern will be provided at class.

Class date: October 21 at 1 p.m.

Class cost: $10 per class to the instructor, Bev Bakkum.

Cluster Stitch Scarf

This beautiful scarf is simple to knit and is elegant to wear! It is a 4 stitch pattern and once you memorize it you will be able to knit without the pattern!

Materials needed: 1 skein Cascade Alpaca Lace, Size 6 needles with pointy ends.

(note: all materials bought at the Blue Heron Knittery for this class are 10% off!)

Pattern will be provided at class.

Class date: October 28 at 1 p.m.

Class cost: $10 per class to the instructor, Bev Bakkum.

Brioche Scarf

This interesting stitch involves yarn overs. It is a pattern that takes heavy yarns and makes a fabric that is light and airy. This is a beginner’s pattern and can be embellished to create a more intricate pattern when you are ready.

Materials needed: 1-2 skeins bulky yarn, needles one size larger than called for.

(note: all materials bought at the Blue Heron Knittery for this class are 10% off!)

Pattern will be provided at class.

Class date: November 11 at 1 p.m.

Class cost: $10 per class to the instructor, Bev Bakkum.

Drop Stitch Cowl

This cowl is fast and fun to knit. You knit in the round until you have used up your yarn or think it is wide enough. Then when binding off the stitches are ‘dropped’ off the needle to create this cowl. A second meeting to finish will be necessary to be determined in class.

Materials needed: 1 skein Tiara yarn, size 6 circular needles (24” or 32”)

(note: all materials bought at the Blue Heron Knittery for this class are 10% off!)

Pattern will be provided at class.

Class date: November 18 at 1 p.m.

Class cost: $10 per class to the instructor, Bev Bakkum.

Cast On, Bind Off & Repairs

This class is devoted to learning/demonstrating some of the more popular methods to cast on projects and why/when to use these methods. The same for binding off your stitches. Many methods are available and the Blue Heron Knittery has several resources available. The repair potion of this class is to demonstrate different methods for finding lost stitches, dropping down into your fabric to redo stitches that were incorrect and making corrections. If you have projects that are started but you have forgotten where you are, time will be devoted to finding your place in your pattern. The instructor will not be making any repairs; you will learn to do them. Each class is a new class. Come once or come to all of them.

Supplies needed: Scrap yarn and needles, notebook for taking notes, knitting projects in progress with the instructions, extra needles in various sizes, crochet hook, markers.

Class dates: November 25 @ 1 p.m., December 2 @ 1 p.m., December 9 @ 1 p.m., December 16 @ 1 p.m., December 23 @ 1 p.m. and December 30 @ 1 p.m.

Class cost: $10 per class to the instructor, Bev Bakkum.
